What's Hot: The 411

Recently in Hip Hop The Lox released an EP entitled The Trinity that can be purchased now on Itunes. The EP features four hot tracks and serves as Prelude to the long awaited Lox album that the streets are craving for. Although I'm not sure of it, there are probably a number of hot guest appearances we can look foward to on the album as well as that voice of the Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch. Prior to the release of the album both Styles P and Jadakiss have been involved with a number of clothing lines promoting their sour vs haze sweaters which can be seen on their instagram pages. Although the group has not released in album since 2000, they have definitely acquired enough of a buzz to get the public's attention having also released freestyles to some of the hottest beats out from the songs Pound Cake by Drake and Nosetalgia by Pusha T. In the R&B loop of things Beyonce dropped her album quietly to a crowd of over 800K people in a matter of 3 DAYS!!! The album features Frank Ocean and of course her husband Jay Z on one of the album's "Singles" Drunk in Love. In addition to these two, Drake and even Blue Ivy make appearances on the album and for Beyonce it's definitely some of her best work yet. The trend of releasing albums spontaneously has began to catch on as it has been rumored that Jay Rock of TDE will be doing the same thing for his sophomore album. 2014 will be sure to bring us alot more excitement in both the R&B and the Hip Hop realm of things.  Here's the link to the album

The NBA season is getting fierce in the West to some degree while the Eastern Conference has been weak and unexciting. The players on my watch list that are having breakout seasons in my opinion are Lance Stephenson of the Indiana Pacers, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers. Although these players were solid last year, two of them deserve all star consideration this year and Curry and Lillard are both in the MVP race currently while Lance seems to be the top candidate for the Most Improved Award that his MVP caliber teammate Paul George received last season.

In other news the teams to lookout for this season will be the Houston Rockets, the Indiana Pacers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Miami Heat, and the San Antonio Spurs, and the Golden State Warriors. Since this is my blog I left off the Trailblazers, because I'm still not sold on them yet. I think the Trailblazers could be a 1 or 2 seed that gets upset in the first round of the playoffs, but hey only time will tell. Lance Stephenson in recently recorded his third triple double of the season and is playing like the 4 Time City Champion Railsplitter from Coney Island's Lincoln High School that the nation grew to love years ago. Damian Lillard recorded his 4th career buzzer beater recently and is quickly garnering himself as being a clutch player worthy of all the hype. This season Stephen Curry along with his teammate Klay Thompson have truly established themselves as the "Splash Brothers" and the team has remained exciting with the addition of Andre Iguodala and the continued growth of players such as Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut.

The New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets who many saw as legitimate contenders have continued to struggle this season and be plagued by injuries. In more recent news it has been established that star Center Brook Lopez of the Brooklyn Nets will miss the remainder of the season with a broken foot while Deron Williams, Lopez's teammate, may be shipped off the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jeremy Lin and Omir Asik. It has also been rumored that point guard Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics may be traded prior to the trade deadline but no teams have elaborated on the rumor so we'll assume it is just that for now.
